The Marshal Service on the front line of exercising sovereignty for the Cherokee people.

There are currently approximately  35 Marshals that work and live within the 14 county jurisdictional base.  Their training includes 16 weeks at F.L.E.T.C. (Federal Law Enforcement Training Center) in Artesia, New Mexico.  Many of the Marshals hold C.L.E.E.T. (Council Law Enforcement Education Training) certifications also.

They attend multiple trainings throughout the year to hone their skills in investigations, domestic violence intervention, drug interdiction and community policing.

The Marshal Service believes first in commmunity and raises money for Special Olympics each year by participating in the Oklahoma Polar Bear Plunge usually held in January.  Cherokee Communities depend on their own Marshal Service to keep their communities safe and violence free thus exercising and maintaining tribal sovereignty.
